This week's episode started out to be our annual recap of our goal progress for 2022. But, we realized, almost immediately, that we had taken a turn and had a creative mindset episode on our hands!

We quickly dove down into exploring the deeper (and sometimes darker) aspects of our creativity and how we work: meaning and resistance.

We discuss how a simple grant application pushed Heather to explore bigger, far more personal themes in her own artwork, ask how it’s possible to resist doing something you absolutely love and explore what’s behind that (there’s always something big behind that!) and talk about the messiness of creativity - the internal messiness of creativity! And as it often does in any mindset episode, social media makes a brief appearance as we talk about what it means to speak up - or stay quiet - when big things happen in the world.

This Episode Is For…

This is a great episode for creatives who:

  • struggle with resistance when creating their work - even (or especially) when they love what they do

  • ponder exploring bigger themes in their work

  • wonder how much of their value system they should share with the world and if it will make an impact.
